Led by Visa’s first Chief Data Officer, the Global Data Office coordinates high-impact, complex, company-wide projects related to data business strategy, critical investments, policy development, and marketplace execution. Working closely with Visa’s Chief Privacy Officer, the Technology organization, the wider data community, and the full set of Visa’s global lines of business, the Global Data Office is evolving Visa’s data-related work with momentum and enthusiasm. Essential Functions
The Data User Review Director, Product Development will contribute to Data Policy efforts in fortifying Responsible Data Use at Visa. The successful candidate will play a key role in Visa’s Data Policy team by supporting the Data Use Case Assessment (DUCA) process by performing reviews and validating compliance with the Data Use Policy.
The Data Policy & Governance division aims to facilitate calculated and transparent risk-taking in the pursuit of Visa’s business growth, development, and pace of innovation. Supporting and improving the Data Use Case Assessment process is a key enabler for the business and the primary responsibility for this role. The Data Use Review Director will also be involved in the execution of a wide spectrum of initiatives driving the implementation of Visa’s Responsible Data Use framework, including organizational change management.
This specific role has a strong emphasis on product initiatives, including new product launches. The individual will work cross functionally, fostering effective collaboration with data users across multiple Visa teams with a key focus on Product, Innovation, Digital, Technology, regional hubs, and most extensively with other members of the Global Data Office and Global Privacy Office to operationalize Visa’s Data Values and data use guidelines throughout the organization.
- Lead the new business initiative and AI-related reviews.
- Serve as deputy / back-up to the team leader as required.
- Closely work with the Risk team to upskill Risk Business Partners in Data Use risks.
- Proactively maintain relationships with core product and technology stakeholders to ensure Data use considerations are understood early on and incorporated in the product and solution design.
- Review incoming Data Use requests and facilitate the risk assessment and review vs. existing Data Use Policies and rules. Navigate accordingly within existing gaps of these policies and be able to identify concerns, whether legally or commercially driven.
- Prepare formal assessments of Data Use reviews using Visa’s enterprise risk tool, detailing the substance of the risks identified and facilitating reviews by additional Visa subject-matter experts as required. Synthesize feedback, interpret requirements, and document them accordingly.
- Communicate Data Use feedback effectively to Data Use owners. Must be able to manage explanations on high-complexity tickets end-to-end with a focus on complex product launches and AI implementations.
- Engage with subject-matter experts to acquire feedback on complex data use matters where available policy guidelines are insufficient.
- Convey change management around the Data Use Policy interpretation by identifying gaps in existing guidelines and working with internal subject-matter experts to address them. Propose alternative ideas and coordinate the fact-base to drive discussion.
- Perform workshops and projects on training of Visa staff on the Data Policy and Data values across the organization as required, partnering with Data Policy Outreach team.
- Contribute to content for the internal Global Data Office properties (website, SharePoint site, internal social media platform, etc.) and external Data @Visa pages.
- Prepare materials as required to support the socialization of Data Use Policy development progress and DUCA feedback. Be ready to present as required.
- Participate in other ad-hoc Data Policy team projects as required by management.
- Perform a key role in coaching junior members, especially during onboarding or when they are acquiring new domain expertise or skill sets.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
• 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Relevant work experience in product, technology, data architecture, technical risk management fields or other similar roles, preferably in payments-related company: at least 8 years with Bachelor's degree/ 6 years with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 years with a PhD
• Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience working in Agile teams
• Proven record of launching tech or product solutions and playing a key role in the implementation
• Proven proficiency in SQL/Hadoop/Python/PowerBI/Tableau or other data analysis and manipulation tools to execute on job responsibilities
• Solid understanding of data governance domain and data architecture, coupled with experience with Data Governance toolset (such as Collibra)
• Demonstrated understanding of evolving trends in data domain, such as Privacy Enhancing Techniques or Cloud Computing
• Excellent proven success track record of project and stakeholder management in a global company
• Solid understanding of payment network data and processes
• Champion of AI tools with a proven experience of employing them on the workplace
• Understanding of key legislation principles (i.e., GDPR, CCPA) is a plus
• Knowledge in Cybersecurity domain is a plus

Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 179,200.00 to 259,850.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
