About this role
Based in New York, this person will be responsible for partnering with and advising senior business leaders on a range of strategic initiatives across the firm. This position will partner closely with the CS&D leadership team and senior business leaders, on a range of strategic initiatives and engagements.
About Corporate Strategy & Development
The Corporate Strategy and Development (“CS&D”) team sits at the center of the firm and is responsible for anticipating where our clients and the people they serve are going and how BlackRock can best deliver on their needs.
- Corporate Strategy formulates enterprise-level vision and strategy, informs business-level strategies, and drives large multi-functional assignments and initiatives for the firm.
- Corporate Development helps realize enterprise- and business-level strategic priorities inorganically, sourcing, assessing and executing acquisitions, investments, divestitures and partnerships / alliances.
We are looking for a Director to join the Corporate Strategy team to contribute to some of the firm’s highest and most dynamic priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of enterprise and firm-wide growth strategies
- Work with senior management and business unit leaders to determine strategic objectives and identify opportunities to meet these goals including (but not limited to) market entry strategies, business prioritization, and assessing strategic investments and partnerships
- Support strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects that promote the implementation of the long-term firm strategy
- Communicate strategic priorities and execution plans across the firm through presentations, meetings, written communications, etc.
- Partner with Corporate Development team to assess inorganic opportunities
- Develop and maintain industry and competitive intelligence
- Lead and develop direct reports and help coach a wider group of strategy professionals
- Recruit, lead, and motivate a high performing, diverse team that consistently delivers world-class results to meet the growing challenges of the firm
- Drive a collaborative and supportive work environment, actively seeking out opportunities to develop team members

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree with strong record of academic achievement; MBA desirable
- 8+ years relevant work experience preferred
- Recent experience leading large scale, high impact strategy assignments as a senior management consultant to the financial services industry or in a senior in-house strategy role within the sector
- Asset management industry expertise strongly preferred; consideration will also be given to candidates with expertise in investing / private markets, wealth management, financial technology, management consulting, and/or broader financial services
- Knowledge of and exposure to a broad range of BlackRock’s businesses is preferred: e.g., retail distribution, institutional distribution, ETFs, wealth management, marketing, alternatives, portfolio management and capital markets, and trading
- Track record of identifying opportunities, building strategies, and driving change through creativity, relationship building, and focused execution
- Excellent problem-solving skills, both conceptual and analytical; strong communication skills; familiarity with financial statements, valuation and financial modelling
- Experience leading and managing project teams
