Job Description
Avvance relies on data to grow loan originations while managing merchant risk and enabling partner and merchant success. As a Business Ops Analyst, you will transform complex performance and risk data into clear, actionable insights that influence strategy, improve portfolio outcomes, and strengthen merchant and partner relationships. You’ll join a collaborative, high-performing team with deep lending and merchant expertise. This role is ideal for an analyst who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys solving ambiguous problems, and can translate data into decisions leaders act on.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver insights that support merchant risk management, partner performance, merchant success, and emerging business needs
- Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, drivers, and emerging risks across merchants, partners, and the loan lifecycle
- Build and maintain recurring partner and merchant performance reporting (scorecards, KPIs, segmentation) to support business reviews and operating rhythms
- Source, integrate, and validate data from multiple systems (applications, underwriting, servicing, payments, disputes/chargebacks, CRM) to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Design dashboards, visualizations, and self-serve tools that clearly communicate performance, risk signals, and opportunity areas
- Translate analysis into concise, business-focused recommendations (e.g., policy or process changes, partner enablement, merchant outreach, monitoring rules)
- Partner with Risk, Product teams, Partner Management, Merchant Success, Sales, and Operations stakeholders to define questions, align metrics, and provide a holistic view of performance
- Monitor outcomes of implemented recommendations and iterate through ongoing measurement, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement
- Ensure all data usage and reporting complies with risk, privacy, and data governance standards
- You’ll work within a modern analytics ecosystem designed to support both advanced analysis and business storytelling. Tools may vary by initiative and typically include:
- SQL-based environments for querying large datasets
- Python or R for statistical analysis and modeling
- Enterprise data platforms and cloud-based analytics environments
- BI and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms
- Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) for analysis, communication, and stakeholder engagement
- Close collaboration with data engineering, governance, and risk partners
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically five or more years of related experience
- Experience applying advanced analytics, statistics, experimentation, or predictive modeling to business problems
- Strong capability working with large, complex datasets, including data extraction, validation, and metric definition and governance
- Proficiency with SQL, with experience using Python or R preferred
- Experience building dashboards and visualizations that drive business action, including partner scorecards, merchant health monitoring, and portfolio KPIs
- Ability to translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to define questions, prioritize work, and influence decisions
- Ability to manage multiple analytical initiatives in a dynamic environment with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Familiarity with risk concepts and operational metrics such as delinquency, loss rates, disputes or chargebacks, fraud indicators, and approvals or declines
- Familiarity with data governance, risk, and privacy standards, especially related to customer and merchant data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting insights and recommendations to business partners
