Equifax is looking for a Director of Policy to join our team. The Director of Policy will help provide overall support to the Equifax Workforce Solutions’ Government Relations team in policy analysis and formation and legislative bill tracking, among other key areas of impact. The successful candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at multitasking, communication and works well with and without direct supervision. This contributor role, reporting to our Leader, EWS Government Relations–States, will collaborate closely with the overall Government Relations team, with a focus on helping the EWS Government Relations team find alignment between business objectives, government programs and other trends in the U.S. and may include the occasional in-person legislative meeting in certain states such as MT, ND, SD, WY, RI, CT, VT and ME.

This position can be remote if you live in one of the states listed above, or will be hybrid working in the office 3 days per week from our office in St. Louis, MO.

What You'll Do:

  • Identify, track and manage legislation and regulations that could create value or cause strategic risks to Equifax Workforce Solutions;

  • Inform and support the execution of state-level strategic public policy objectives, including tracking and covering legislative and regulatory developments, our progress, timelines, and deliverables;

  • Support the EWS Government Relations team in preparing for government meetings and executing on next steps with internal and external partners;

  • Assists with one-pagers, testimony and topic briefs to support the team’s work;

  • Conducts background research and data support for team initiatives;

  • Good logic skills to read through legislative hearing minutes and summarize the conclusions;

  • Occasional in-person legislative meetings, when necessary, in states such as: MT, ND, SD, WY, RI, CT, VT and ME; and

  • Identify ways to improve our overall Government Relations processes, communications, tracking frameworks, and results.

What experience you need:

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in state government, government relations, and/or government affairs;

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience;

  • Ability to travel up to 15% at certain times of the year

What Could Set You Apart:

  • Knowledge of state legislatures and government preferred;

  • Legislative research experience;

  • Related experience as a policy analyst or relevant legal background looking to move over to a corporate government relations position;

  • Experience working in a state/federal government -- state/federal legislative or agency

  • An interest and/or understanding of the legislative process;

  • Ability to stay connected to a large government relations team while working in a matrixed environment with team members spread out across various geographies.

  • A passion for process, strong project management skills, and the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders;

  • Excellent verbal and written communicator, with the ability to write for clarity and influence;

  • Organizational skills, with excellent follow-through and a positive attitude in a dynamic work environment;

  • Intellectual curiosity, openness to feedback, and a team-player mentality;
