About the Opportunity:

The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond has an immediate opening for a Senior Maintenance Mechanic. In this role, you will perform skilled maintenance and repair of facility’s structure and equipment, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and furniture installation. We are open to hiring at the intermediate or senior level for this Maintenance Mechanic opening, depending on experience.

What you will do:

  • Performs moderately complex troubleshooting and repairs of a non-routine nature to a variety of electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and hydraulic components.

  • Responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and wastewater disposal.

  • Conducts scheduled inspections, service, and preventive maintenance for complex multi-component equipment and systems.

  • Participate or lead stretch assignments.

  • May assist in moderately complex construction and/or installation activities related to facility structure, infrastructure, and furnishings.

  • May perform operational duties requiring monitoring and adjustment of equipment or processes while they are functioning in order to optimize availability, capability, and yield.

  • Assists as needed with room setups, snow/ice removal and inclement weather clean up.

  • Assists mechanics and other trades with incidental duties in more complex repairs or activities as required.

  • Performs all duties in strict adherence to OSHA and safety requirements.

  • Proficient with a variety of hand tools, electric meters, material handling equipment in performing assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Senior Maintenance Mechanic: 5 to 9+ years of relevant work experience, with a Journeyman’s certification in related trade required.

  • Intermediate Maintenance Mechanic: 3 to 5+ years of relevant work experience, with a Journeyman's certification in related trade.

  • High school diploma or GED.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and skill in the operation and maintenance of a single commercial mechanical, HVAC, fire protection or plumbing system, including superior knowledge of several electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and hydraulic components.

  • Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques.

  • Comprehensive ability to read and interpret blueprints including HVAC, DDC, electrical, pneumatic, and control schematics.

  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical principles and ability to troubleshoot electrical and electronic controls. Excellent ability to clearly analyze, troubleshoot, and make sound decisions about complex situations while under pressure.

  • Progressive knowledge of repair and maintenance of kitchen equipment preferred.

  • Proficient ability with personal computers and MS Office, practical ability to operate computerized building automation systems.

  • The hiring range for this position is: Intermediate level: $44,600 to $61,270. Senior level: 51,100 to $70,290.

  • Salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual's knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications.
