OUR BANK - The Federal Reserve is the central bank of the United States and is one of the most influential, trusted, and prestigious financial organizations. It consists of twelve Reserve Banks located around the country and the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C. The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta territory covers the Sixth Federal Reserve District, which includes Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, and portions of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The Atlanta Fed and the other Reserve Banks play an important part in all three of the Fed's functions: monetary policy, bank supervision and regulation, and the operation of a nationwide payment system.

This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, performance standards or requirements, efforts, skills or working conditions associated with the job. SCOPE OF ASSIGNMENT:

  • Accounting, risk and control knowledge. The ability to complete complex assignments for the Financial Accounting functions.

  • Provide guidance/consultation to customers and research and respond through various forums to ad hoc requests for information from senior management, internal and external auditors, Board of Governors, other Reserve Banks and System entities, and other FMP units. May also review work of other analysts.

  • Processes, approves and/or validates transactions and ensures they are processed timely and accurately.

  • Participates in daily and monthly unit processes and the creation of quarterly and annual processes, financial statements, footnotes, and reporting.

  • Maintains and creates flowcharts, narratives, and other control documentation for key financial processes. Assesses risks and controls in FMP areas and recommends changes to improve efficiency and/or controls.

  • Monitor correct usage of accounts owned by other areas.

  • Participates in testing and implementation of new applications or maintenance releases.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Students must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program through the duration of the internship.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA above 3.0 in academically rigorous curriculum.

  • Must be committed to working a 40-hour work week for 10-12 weeks during the summer months.

  • Knowledge of accounting software modules

PREFERRED MAJORS:

  • Accounting

CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects

  • Great work ethic and detail oriented

  • Comfortable working across time zones to complete projects in a timely manner
