The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is seeking an undergraduate level (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) with a preferred major in Economics but students with non-economics major with the stated knowledge and skills may be considered. Student should possess basic knowledge in economics and econometrics and is familiar with statistical software such as Stata. This is an onsite position from Monday – Friday (40 hour per week). This is a 10-week paid internship. The hourly rate for this position is $21.00 per hour.

Intern project:

The project is to try to understand how different racial groups responded, potentially differently, to the pandemic stimulus.

  • You will get familiarized with the CEX (Consumption Expenditure Survey) dataset, which includes consumption expenditures and amount of stimulus payments for U.S. households, together with various characteristics of the households, including age, race, family composition, etc.
  • You will compute and document how income and consumption expenditures of households of different racial groups changed during the pandemic, and responded to stimulus payment, following the methodology of the recent paper by Parker, Schild, and Erhard (2022).
  • You will document the results of the analysis.
  • You may assist with other projects as needed.

Required Skills:

Knowledge in economics and econometrics

Experience with large dataset and statistical software (such as Stata) to process the dataset preferred

Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
