It helps formulate and implement monetary policy, supervises banks and savings and loan holding companies, and provides financial services to depository institutions and the federal government. The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia serves eastern and central Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.The Federal Reserve Bank is looking for a passionate and inquisitive undergraduate student in their junior or senior year to intern with the Bank’s Media Relations team. You will have the opportunity to work with departments across the Bank to tell the story of how our work impacts the economy and our communities. You will develop a keen sense of how the media cycle works by curating content for our daily and weekly newsletters, learning how to develop effective communications to reporters, and identifying opportunities to demonstrate the impact of a news story. Students interested in the news, journalism, and public relations are especially encouraged to apply.
The work schedule is Monday – Thursday (32 hours per week). This is a 10-week paid internship. The hourly rate for this position is $21.00 per hour.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of media strategy
- Identify target reporters for media outreach and research their previous work
- Contribute to written communications to journalists
- Participate in preparing experts for media interviews
- Work with media at events
- Help ensure accurate media coverage of the organization
- Curate articles and messages for the organization’s news updates to staff.
- Audit media contact lists for accuracy.
Required Skills:
Must be creative, flexible, and deadline driven. Should also have an interest in following the news and understanding the media landscape.
Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of media monitoring platforms a plus.
Education:
Undergraduate juniors and seniors preferred. Majors in English, Communications, Public Relations, Rhetoric, Journalism preferred.
