About the Job:

The Federal Reserve System serves as the central bank of the United States. Its fundamental mission is to foster the stability, integrity, and efficiency of the nation’s monetary, financial, and payments systems.

This position is responsible for supporting the Federal Reserve System’s Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) Research and Development Program. As an Operations Intern/Coop, you will work with colleagues throughout the Federal Reserve system and at the Board of Governors to make sure the project has what it needs for success by understanding and responding to the interests of the project’s stakeholders. This role is designed for students to gain real life experience working in a multi-faceted team. The Operations team works in a multi-disciplinary environment that includes finance, government, business, engineering, and law. If you are exceptionally motivated and have a multi-dimensional skill set, then this is the internship for you.

Note: this is a fulltime Fall internship starting in July and ending in December.

Principal Accountabilities:
Interface with stakeholders throughout the Federal Reserve System and Board of Governors to facilitate the success of engineering and research efforts including:

  • Collaborate across internal stakeholders, including Legal, Audit, Finance, and Procurement, to identify and address risks and challenges.
  • Design process improvements to help team work efficiently and effectively.
  • Build reports to communicate to senior management.

Knowledge and Experience:
Open to both undergraduate and graduate students, preferably in a relevant field such as government and politics, business, economics, finance, law, or engineering.

  • Excellent project management capabilities.
  • Sophisticated user of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • High level of self-motivation and initiative; strong team player.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the Federal Reserve System
  • Strong grasp of the fundamentals of money, banking, payments, finance, and related concepts.
  • Ability to balance longer-term objectives and shorter-term deliverables efficiently, successfully, and on time.
  • Understanding of technology development, coding, and automation is desirable.
