What We Do:

The Archives of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York preserves and makes available historical records of the Bank that document its history and varied roles in the financial and economic developments of the United States and global markets. The Archives have been cited by generations of academics and other scholars in dissertations, journal articles, and monographs.

Your Role as an Archives Specialist:

  • Assists in executing an end-to-end process for the appraisal, processing, migration, and preservation of District archival materials in hardcopy and digital formats.

  • Advises in developing policies, best practices, and strategies to augment the 2nd District's archives program. Ensures adherence to industry standards and best practices as well as Bank policies regarding information management.

  • Works closely with Legal, Records Management, business lines, and Research Information Services to systematically identify archival materials and advise on preservation strategies.

  • Ensures appropriate metadata is captured at the point of creation and works proactively with business lines to transfer historical materials to the Archives, either physical storage locations or a Preservica-based repository.

  • Creates inventories, finding aids, and metadata as needed, leveraging collections management and digital preservation software.

  • Assists in developing practices and workflows for and maintaining an ArchivesSpace instance.

  • Represents the the Archives on local and national workgroups and cross-discipliniary project teams, providing leadership and subject matter expertise.

  • Conducts reference services, outreach, and training for business line representatives. Assists in responding to external reference requests and TAP (Transparency and Accountability Program) inquiries while adhering to information security requirements.

  • Leads periodic tours of the Archives and provides support for exhibits and other programming related to Bank history.

What We are Looking For:

  • Relevant experience that demonstrates archival competency.

  • Knowledge of economic, financial, or business history and terminology.

  • Knowledge of archival and library descriptive standards such as DACS and MODS.

  • Familiarity with ArchivesSpace or other collections management software.

  • Familiarity with Preservica or other digital preservation technologies.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • The ability to work autonomously and prioritize projects within the context of a team-based environment.

Salary Range: $ 108,200 – 130,000/ year
