Summary: The Linux System Administrator is responsible for the installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of all Linux systems, AIX systems, and related hardware infrastructure.


Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Participate on a team supporting and maintaining all Linux and Windows Server hardware and Operating Systems, AWS cloud instances, SAN, Active Directory and related functions and services.


Provide strategic and architectural planning and vision for the Linux/Windows infrastructure.


Monitor the environment for performance and stability that meets Service Level Objectives.


Contribute to and maintain system standards.


Maintain system patching levels, ensure current system backups, and analyze systems for performance tuning.


Perform root cause analysis on incidents on supported systems hardware and OS/software.


Produce reports essential for proper management of the server environment.


Maintain the environment to satisfy security requirements set by business drivers and Information Security department.


Possess the ability to objectively handle escalation of reported incidents related to all facets of the server environment.


Work with peers across multiple business units.


Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.


Supervisory Responsibilities:


This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.


Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 7+ years of experience with design, architecture, and support of Linux system environments. Red Hat Linux experience a plus.


Strong knowledge and understanding of centralized server management framework.


Strong scripting skills


Experience with RH Satellite and ansible a plus.


Experience with docker or other containers a plus.


Experience with apache tomcat and apache httpd server a plus.


Experience in VMware server environments.


Experience with AWS administration a plus.


Experience with SAN administration a plus.


Familiarity with Windows servers, Active Directory


Strong working knowledge of networking architectures and protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP.


A self-starter with good interpersonal skills who can work equally well with management, peers, and end-users.


Someone who can lead a team on projects and be a liaison with Project Managers.


Education/Experience


Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred, technical education or equivalent experience in the computer field required, with at least 7 years of experience in Linux/Windows server administration.


Basic Skills


Must have strong communication and phone skills, as well as excellent analytical and technical skills. Must be capable of explaining procedures in writing and verbally. Must be capable of coping with pressure situations. Must have good planning skills, and work well with others in a team environment.
