Job Summary
The Staff Accountant promotes the growth and prosperity of the bank by professionally serving the needs of internal customers. They are responsible for account reconciliations, assisting with the month-end close process, and other duties as determined by the management team.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

- Reconcile and review general ledger and bank use accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies, investigate and resolve any variances promptly.
- Prepare accurate general and bank transaction entries accompanied by supporting documentation.
- Create, maintain, and update Excel spreadsheets as required by manager.
- Serve as back-up for other accounting positions and support other Accounting personnel in tasks.
- Assist with maintaining a SOX control environment.
- May assist with preparing monthly financial statements and board report packages
- May assist with preparing schedules and disclosures supporting external reporting.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations, and laws.
- Complete all mandatory annual compliance training.
- Follow regulatory requirements including those pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and OFAC to assist in the identification, detection, and determent of money laundering and other unlawful activities, as well as regulations pertaining to lending and consumer compliance to include fair lending laws.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other related field; may consider a combination of applicable education and experience.
Required:
• 3+ years of accounting education or experience.
• 3+ years of reconciliation experience.
• Strong understanding of the reconciliation process.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized and able to multi-task.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture.
• Dedicated to follow up and follow through on routine and non-routine tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Preferred:
• Accounting experience in a publicly traded financial institution.
