Overview

Job Purpose

The Clearing Risk Analyst plays an integral role within the Clearing team at ICE NGX by ensuring Contracting Parties maintain sufficient collateral to support their clearing positions. This role contributes directly to the risk management of the Clearinghouse and is responsible for monitoring ICE NGX’s clearing and settlement risks in accordance with established policies and procedures.

ICE NGX, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, provides electronic trading, central counterparty clearing, and data services to North American natural gas, electricity, and environmental markets. The Clearing Risk Analyst interacts with these markets and communicates the value of ICE NGX’s clearing services to new and existing customers.

Responsibilities

Execute clearing and settlement processes in accordance with current policies, including:

  • Understanding and completing the clearing cycle including Contracting Party’s margin requirements and reporting.
  • Monitoring collateral requirements.
  • Collateral returns processing and collateral reporting.
  • Interacting with Contracting Parties to ensure margin requirements and settlements are met.
  • Conducting credit reviews for new and existing Contracting Parties.
  • Completing daily and monthly ICE NGX settlement cycles.
  • Monitoring daily cash inflows and outflows.
  • Providing support for internal and external audit inquiries.
  • Exposure to the following processes will be gained:
    • Trade lifecycle
    • Settlement processes
    • Risk and Treasury interactions
  • Complete regular and periodic reporting requirements.
  • Support and participate in ad hoc projects or other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is preferred.
  • 2+ years of combined experience in counterparty credit analysis and/or settlements within the energy or banking industries.
  • Working toward a CPA or CFA designation is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of futures contracts is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong business communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in the following areas is an asset:
    • Contracting Party onboarding
    • User training
    • System release processes (requirements gathering, testing, UAT)
