Job Purpose

The Department

The Cloud Engineering team is responsible for the implementation of processes, procedures and tools for managing, monitoring and maintaining intelliflo’s cloud platform supporting our SaaS solution including Database Administrators, Cloud Engineers and Site Reliability Engineers.

Your Role

  • This role will be hands on contributing to and maintaining the infrastructure (as code) and delivering a fully automated operational environment for the SaaS product. The individual will be responsible for managing and enhancing the cloud base infrastructure. You will be focused on delivering cloud-based infrastructure as code, and maintaining Continuous Delivery pipelines in order to support the clients expectations of the service we provide. The candidate will liaise with the our Information Security team on security related issues and the cloud architecture for development related issues

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Design, plan, implement, maintain, and support new infrastructure requirements within Intelliflo’s cloud environment. Infrastructure includes the
  • following components:
  • Network
  • Compute services, including EC2, Lambda, EKS
  • Container-based services (Kubernetes / Helm)
  • Data stores
  • Monitoring and Observability (e.g. Cloudwatch)
  • Security Services
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs.
  • Optimize, update and support existing cloud infrastructure.
  • Research, evaluate and propose solutions that add value to / improve the business.
  • Deliver the infrastructure following Intelliflo’s Infrastructure As Code practices – reproducible and automated.
  • Automate repetitive tasks
  • Design, implement and test disaster recovery plans.
  • Develop reusable libraries that can be applied in the cloud.
  • Create solutions to generate metrics to facilitate an understanding of services.
  • Contribute towards building a highly effective team. Encourage the sharing of technical knowledge and the free-flow of ideas.
  • Liaise with vendors and partners for problem resolution

Work Experience/Knowledge

  • Terraform development / experience.
  • AWS experience
  • Kubernetes (deployment) and Docker (containerization)
  • Ability to apply DevOps practices
  • Strong Linux Administration skills around networking, filesystems, processes and security
  • Git usage and workflows, including use of CI/CD to deliver infrastructure.
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience within a systems engineering / administration environment, and 1 – 2 years experience as Cloud or
  • DevOps engineer.
  • The following experience is a plus:
  • Experience working with DotNet applications (build and deployment to cloud environments).
  • Experience with using monitoring and observability tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk / ELK in addition to cloud-native (Cloudwatch).
  • Experience with Consul and Vault.
  • Experience with database management – MS SQL, Postgres, NoSQL (e.g. Mongo).
  • Working with development teams and experience in developing and supporting CI/CD solutions

  • AWS – management via console and CLI/API clients (Services across compute, storage, governance, key&secret management, monitoring categories)
  • Scripting – bash, python, ruby, etc
  • Containerization (Docker containers, Kubernetes)
  • Data structure languages, including XML, Json & YAML.
  • Windows Server, Amazon Linux (sys admin)
  • CI/CD – Github Actions and CD solution.
  • Various operational support systems – centralized logging, key & secret management systems, monitoring platforms

Formal Education

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related field preferred

Certification

  • AWS Certification

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, and temperatures.
  • The ability to lift, carry or otherwise move objects of up to 10 pounds is also necessary.
  • Hours may include evenings or weekends.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
