Job Description

Duties:

  • Provide leadership and oversight to a team of operations engineers building solutions and capabilities at scale with high engineering and quality standards.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to understand business problems and design and develop appropriate solutions for the Intelliflo Cloud & SaaS platform.
  • Partner with architects to ensure developed solutions adhere to established best practices and patterns, and define & improve on additional standards for engineering.
  • Provide technical thought leadership towards solving problems for the team and facilitate improvements for product delivery.
  • Drive the adoption of engineering best practices and processes to improve velocity and reliability of deliverables.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports.
  • Develop and nurture teams of operations engineers (cloud engineers, data engineers, platform engineers and SREs) by motivating, guiding and mentoring, identifying roles and capacity required to support the platform, and hiring into those roles.
  • Provide support to engineers on a day to day basis to unblock and deliver quality code-based solutions for the distributed platform.
  • Contribute towards design and implementation of security standards and controls to reduce / eliminate risks in the platform.Direc
  • Ensure relevant metrics and observability capabilities are available that allow engineering teams and business stakeholders to have the relevant level of insight into systems behaviour.
  • Promote a DevOps culture, promoting principles to reduce delays in delivery and encourage collaboration and automation, reducing hand-overs and improve service ownership.
  • Contribute towards design and delivery of key pillars of the Intelliflo Cloud Platform: Cloud Infrastructure, Security, CI/CD, Observability, Automation, Contingency & Continuity (DR), Cost Management and Incident Response.

Requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical degree plus 10 years of progressive experience in Systems Engineering/Architecture positions. In the alternative, employer will accept 12 years of experience in Systems Engineering/Architecture positions.
  • Must have 10 years of experience performing/utilizing the following:
  • Network design and security
  • Linux & Windows OS system administration
  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment
  • Database architecture, design and administration including MySQL, MongoDB, MSSQL and Postgres
  • Project management in an Agile environment utilizing Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and SAFe methodologies
  • Systems / Platform Architecture and DevOps
  • Designing and implementing high availability, redundancy and disaster recovery strategies
  • Distributed architectures, including microservice patterns and practices.
  • Application build and deployment (CI/CD, automation)
  • Application and infrastructure security (code, static analysis, dynamic analysis, and pen testing), including experience with 3rd party security code vendor Whitehat Security.
  • Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform and Cloud Formation
  • Cloud Cost Management
  • Managing a team of cloud engineers
  • Working with Container-based technologies and strategies, including Kubernetes/EKS and Docker.
  • Managing and defining processes and programs for On-Call and Incident Management, including related technology such as PagerDuty
  • Operational insight and analytics through metrics, tracing and log aggregation, through technologies including Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, and New Relic
  • Compliance standards, including SOCII, GDPR and ISO27001 and working in a SEC regulated environment.
  • Utilizing the following: Jira; S; Orchestration/configuration tools including Chef and Puppet; AWS including EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and EMR); and NodeJS, Tomcat, JBoss, Akka Microkernel, Scala and C#
  • Position may be eligible to work hybrid/remotely but is based out of and reports to Invesco offices in Newport Beach, CA. Must be available to travel to Newport Beach, CA regularly for meetings and reviews with manager and project teams within 24-hours’ notice.
