As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Asset & Wealth Management, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring that design constraints are met throughout software code development.
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets to drive continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data, using these insights to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and participates in events that explore new and emerging technologies.
  • Adds to a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
  • Proficient in coding in one or more languages such as Java, React, etc.
  • Expertise in Java, with a proven track record of building and integrating robust backend solutions using frameworks such as Spring.
  • Experience developing interactive and responsive user interfaces with React, applying best practices in front-end development to deliver high-quality web applications.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Ability to collaborate with portfolio managers to understand their needs and proactively develop solutions that streamline and enhance investment workflows.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL queries for data retrieval, manipulation, and analysis across relational database systems.
