As a Principal Architect at JPMorgan Chase, you will be leading the strategic evolution of our Collaboration & Communication platforms in Corporate Technology team, empowering secure, real-time, and on-demand collaboration for over 300,000 employees worldwide. In this pivotal role, you will architect end-to-end capabilities and experiences across our product suite, ensuring platform reliability, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will partner closely with product and engineering teams to set architectural standards, identify reusable patterns, and enable solution architects and engineers—shaping the overall architectural vision for the organization.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned hands-on practitioner with deep experience building solutions at scale. You combine strong architectural judgment with the ability to simplify complex challenges, influence stakeholders at all levels, and drive engineering excellence. You thrive in ambiguity, bring structure to undefined problem spaces, and are comfortable diving into technical details as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversees architecture governance processes to identify, evaluate, and address risks for architecturally significant applications.
- Unblocks teams by establishing strategic design standards, best practices, and architectural blueprints across the enterprise.
- Drives cloud adoption and application modernization initiatives within the Collaboration & Communication product line.
- Partners with solution architects and engineers to design scalable, highly reliable systems.
- Leads and implements multiple complex programs spanning the product line.
- Collaborates with product teams to assess emerging technologies and develop recommendations based on fit, scalability, total cost of ownership (TCO), and return on investment (ROI), including running proofs of concept (POCs) and business cases.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 7+ years applied experience.
- Strong overall experience with a mix of hands-on and solutions architecture roles.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and clearly articulate technical strategies to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies.
- Experience designing cloud solutions on AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Practical experience with C4 modeling, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), data modeling, and end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Understanding of FinOps and cloud cost management principles.
- Strong grasp of security architecture concepts, with proven ability to assess application and infrastructure designs for security gaps and recommend remediation (including threat modeling).
- Ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Experience selecting and implementing AI tools in the enterprise (e.g., LLM-assisted workflows, AI-enabled collaboration), with a focus on responsible AI, privacy, and compliance.
- Experience in large-scale enterprise environments, preferably within financial services.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to global organizations.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving organizational change.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
