Job summary
As a Loan Origination Analyst in the Multifamily Loan Origination team, you will conduct insurance and compliance reviews for commercial and multifamily loan files, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure loans are set up accurately and issues are resolved on time. You will apply investor and regulatory guidelines to identify coverage gaps, manage exceptions, and support a consistent, high-quality origination process.
Job responsibilities
- Evaluate loan documentation and third-party reports (appraisals, engineering, seismic, environmental) to determine loan-specific insurance requirements.
- Review loan files to confirm accurate loan setup and completeness of required documentation.
- Audit insurance policies for compliance with investor requirements and applicable coverage standards.
- Identify, assess, and communicate risks related to coverage gaps, deficiencies, or lapses to appropriate stakeholders.
- Process insurance waiver and exception requests, including documentation and tracking of non-compliance items.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for questions related to insurance requirements, coverage standards, and investor guidelines.
- Track origination-related compliance activities and support timely resolution of exceptions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve compliance issues and improve process outcomes.
- Manage multiple tasks independently, prioritize by urgency and risk, and meet defined deadlines.
- Adapt quickly to changes in workflow, priorities, and procedures while maintaining quality standards.
- Provide responsive, professional service to internal and external clients throughout the origination process.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s degree or insurance-related industry designation with demonstrated relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of insurance experience supporting commercial or multifamily lending, loan administration, or related underwriting/servicing activities.
- Knowledge of commercial insurance coverages including property (flood, wind, earthquake, terrorism), general liability, workers’ compensation, auto, professional liability, and umbrella/excess.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply investor, regulatory, and internal guidelines to assigned processes.
- Strong risk identification skills with the ability to escalate issues clearly and promptly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across varying seniority levels.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a consistent focus on accuracy.
- Ability to manage a portfolio of work, prioritize by risk and urgency, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality client service for internal and external partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in (business or finance preferred)
- Experience working with Freddie Mac requirements.
- Experience working with Fannie Mae requirements.
- Knowledge of lender or agency insurance programs.
- Broader general commercial insurance industry knowledge.
