JPMorganChase is seeking a Vice President-level Chief of Staff to support the Managing Director (MD) of Operations, Activation & Transformation (OAT). The Chief of Staff serves as a strategic partner and operational backbone to the MD, connecting workstreams, enabling leadership, and driving the rhythm of the business. This is an individual contributor role based in New York that requires exceptional judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to influence without direct authority.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Substance

The Chief of Staff will build and maintain a deep understanding of OAT's workstreams and how they connect. The role goes beyond coordination: owning the substance of deliverables, ensuring materials are well-positioned and stakeholder-ready, and representing OAT initiatives to leadership with confidence and full context.

Communication & Leadership Enablement

The Chief of Staff will ensure the MD and leadership team are always prepared, not just informed. This means anticipating needs, pre-positioning context ahead of key conversations, and shaping OAT's narrative across town halls, stakeholder updates, and weekly reporting. The role includes drafting and structuring weekly leadership bullets, wins, and watchouts; managing approvals and distribution; and maintaining an archive of approved materials. Proactive communication is essential: surfacing risks, flagging blockers, and keeping stakeholders informed before they have to ask.

Operational Cadence & Project Management

The Chief of Staff will own the operating rhythm of OAT, including tracking weekly due dates with cross-functional partners, managing monthly OKR and scorecard reporting cycles, building quarterly town halls, and running recurring leadership forums such as monthly executive round robins and weekly MD direct-report meetings. The role also involves driving cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution, tracking milestones, and ensuring accountability across stakeholders.

Prioritization & Information Flow

The Chief of Staff will bring discipline to how OAT's time and attention are allocated, structuring meetings, briefings, and decision points around what matters most. The role requires strong proactive planning and sound judgment about what warrants direct engagement versus asynchronous communication.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 5+ years of experience in strategy, operations, chief of staff, or business management roles within financial services or a similarly complex, matrixed environment

  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a trusted partner to senior leaders, with sound judgment on when to act independently and when to escalate

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor narratives to executive audiences and proactively keep the right people informed at the right time

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with a track record of managing multiple workstreams, competing priorities, and tight timelines

  • Comfort operating through influence rather than authority across teams without direct reporting lines

  • High attention to detail across both high-visibility and day-to-day outputs

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience supporting C-suite or MD-level leaders in a chief of staff or similar capacity

  • Familiarity with OKR frameworks, scorecard reporting, and strategic planning processes

  • Background in operations, transformation, or organizational effectiveness functions

  • Experience preparing materials for and facilitating town halls, offsites, or large-scale internal communications

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US. We are not able to provide immigration sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time. Final job grade level and corporate title will be determined at time of offer and may differ from this posting.
