As an Executive Director, Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within Network Product Line, you will lead the engineering strategy, delivery, and operational excellence for software platforms that enable large-scale enterprise Network Automation, Identity Services, and Configuration Management.
You will build and mentor high-performing, cross-functional teams; set clear goals and measurable outcomes; and partner closely with product, network engineering, security, operations, and vendor partners to deliver resilient solutions. This role requires strong technical depth and leadership to drive roadmap execution, remove delivery obstacles, and resolve complex issues under pressure. You will be accountable for software quality, security, and reliability across the product lifecycle—from architecture and development through testing, deployment, and ongoing support—ensuring the firm’s network and associated platforms are protected from security vulnerabilities and software defects.
Job responsibilities
- Lead engineering teams to design, build, integrate, and deliver network automation and identity-related software solutions across diverse devices, environments, and vendors.
- Own the end-to-end engineering lifecycle for vendor and internally built products: requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, release, production support, and continuous improvement.
- Drive roadmap execution by establishing delivery plans, milestones, KPIs/OKRs, and agile practices that align with organizational objectives and commitments.
- Operate at scale in a global, multi-time-zone environment, enabling effective execution, incident response, and stakeholder communications.
- Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to implement API-based integrations, develop required integration components, and address complex platform challenges.
- Ensure security, regulatory, and operational compliance for platforms and applications, including vulnerability management, controls adherence, and audit readiness.
- Champion automation and AI adoption to improve developer productivity, engineering efficiency, and time-to-delivery while strengthening quality and reliability.
- Build and develop talent through hiring, resourcing, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Improve observability and operational readiness through monitoring, dashboards, and runbooks; lead troubleshooting and production issue resolution as needed.
- Enable product adoption by supporting customer onboarding, documentation, and training for engineering teams, customers, and end users.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with 15+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams delivering enterprise-scale platforms (architecture through production support), including vendor product lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead effectively in a global, multi-time-zone operating model.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including partnering with customers, leadership, support teams, and vendors; able to drive outcomes in ambiguous, high-pressure situations.
- Track record of modernizing or enhancing existing engineering platforms for improved performance, reliability, and usability.
- Strong software engineering skills including system design/architecture, testing strategy, and automation.
- Proficiency with Linux administration.
- Proficiency in modern development languages/frameworks such as Python and common web/API frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Flask) and UI frameworks (e.g., React).
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, cloud technologies, ServiceNow, and databases.

Experience building/maintaining observability dashboards using tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, and Splunk
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Strong network engineering background: CCNP/CCIE (or equivalent experience) preferred, with experience managing large-scale enterprise networks.

Experience with Cisco ISE and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP)
