Head of Brokerage
J.P. Morgan
Chicago, IL, USA
As the Head of Insurance Broking in Business Banking, you will lead the bank's insurance broking function within the overall Insurance Platform Team (“IPT”). The IPT will launch its first major proposition in mid-2027 with a digital-led, human-supported service aimed at smaller businesses with simpler needs, backed by a strong bench of blue-chip US carriers. Beyond, and in parallel to, this first digital-led chapter we will be building the converse of a human-led, digitally-supported broking capability for those clients and use cases who have more complex needs requiring more consultative sales and service, plus a broader range of solutions – such as specialist carriers and wholesale, extending to E&S.
We are recruiting this role in 2026 to both contribute to the overall build of IPT across all opportunities, but specifically to build the thinking and plan as the foundation for the broking capability, and then moving on to the implementation of that plan….from recruitment of talent to building the infrastructure.
Job responsibilities
- Develop the build plan: Identify, understand, and map opportunities across JPMorganChase that require a broking service (alongside or independent of digital), prioritize what to build based on opportunity needs vs. delivery requirements, and partner cross-functionally to produce the business case and end-to-end delivery plan for the IPT broking element.
- Launch broking capability: Execute the agreed plan and deliver the broking capability live (including key dependencies, operating model readiness, and go-live milestones).
- Lead and manage the broking organization: Lead, develop, coach, and motivate a team of high-performing licensed insurance brokers and support staff to deliver outcomes for the firm and clients.
- Set performance standards and culture: Establish clear performance goals, reinforce accountability and professionalism, and ensure the team is equipped, inspired, and aligned to deliver.
- Talent lifecycle ownership: Drive recruitment, performance reviews, development, and succession planning across the broking team.
- Internal stakeholder alignment: Build strong relationships across internal Lines of Business to maximize the broking team’s contribution against each opportunity and ensure tight partnership with LOB leadership.
- Commercial ownership and growth: Own revenue targets and growth strategy in collaboration with the supported LOB; identify expansion opportunities across the bank’s existing client base.
- Build referral and demand generation pipelines: Partner with relationship managers, private bankers, BRMs, and other internal stakeholders to cultivate referrals and drive new business using JPMorganChase data and demand-generation capabilities.
- Client advisory leadership: Oversee delivery of high-quality advice and service—ensuring client needs are assessed, appropriate solutions recommended, and a consultative, risk-advisory approach consistently applied.
- Complex placements, risk and claims advocacy: Maintain senior client relationships; support brokers on complex/high-value placements; provide strong capability in risk advisory, risk management, and claims advocacy.
- Market access, compliance, and platform delivery: Partner with Head of Carrier Strategy to secure admitted and E&S carriers, ensure access to competitive products and a clear placement strategy; ensure full regulatory/internal compliance in partnership with Legal/Risk/Compliance; serve as a key stakeholder in mapping and delivering a robust, scalable trading and client management platform integrated with the broader IPT build, while contributing to broader insurance strategy and providing performance reporting, market analysis, and client outcome metrics to senior leadership.
