DESCRIPTION:

Duties: Conduct market surveillance in mortgage-backed securities (MBS) structured finance and structured finance derivatives. Own daily generation of securities valuations for multiple market closes including market data collection and analysis, price generation, quality control, and client interaction. Coordinate with market participants, including portfolio managers, risk managers, trading desks, and other front office personnel on all aspects of daily pricing and the challenge process. Perform data analysis, including incorporating market information into the valuation systems and analyze the assumptions used, the resulting output, and the validity as compared to market observations. Develop and enhance pricing methodologies and matrices. Examine and develop new areas of product growth through independent self-guided research, interactions with clients, trading desks, research professionals, and technology teams. Analyze and extract market information and trends using industry standard tools. Manage and update scripts that implement daily valuation control measures. Develop and test quantitative models used in securities pricing. Identify information and trends from large mortgage data set sources and analyze the effect on securities valuation using programming tools. Apply statistical knowledge to deal and cash flow structures and pricing inputs to extract summary information based on various subsectors within the market. Define and implement quality controls and procedures to ensure the accuracy of data input and output. Coordinate with technology support teams to improve or troubleshoot valuation or control processes. Improve product and service quality through daily market surveillance, communication with market participants, data and financial analysis, review of process controls, and data quality assurance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree in Economics and International Trade, Financial Engineering, Mathematics of Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related field of study plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or as Securities Valuation, Valuation Analyst, Business Analyst, Financial Derivatives Analyst, Structured Fixed Income Valuation Analyst, Financial Research Analyst, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in Economics and International Trade, Financial Engineering, Mathematics of Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related field of study plus 4 years of experience in the job offered or as Securities Valuation, Valuation Analyst, Business Analyst, Financial Derivatives Analyst, Structured Fixed Income Valuation Analyst, Financial Research Analyst, or related occupation.

Skills Required: This position requires two (2) years of experience with the following: Working with structured fixed income securities, mortgage-backed securities, whole loan, and asset-backed securities including prepayment and loss severity forecasting and rate shock analysis; performing portfolio analysis and report generation for fixed-income securities including leveraging data visualization tools; performing market color and intelligence gathering including identification of new market and sector trends using Bloomberg, Intex, Trepp, and GreenStreet; performing maintenance of color databases using Python, SQL, and Excel; presenting market intelligence, color, and trends including defense of generated analysis, valuations, and reports covering sector and individual instruments to individual clients, portfolio managers, traders, research, operations, and sales teams; performing data manipulation, structuring, design flow, and query optimization using SQL and Python; performing fixed income modeling and valuation, including, discount cash flow modeling and return forecasting leveraging Bloomberg and Intex; designing interactive Excel reports with advanced functionalities including vlookup, xlookup, hlookup, index match, data analysis add-ons, pivot tables, and macros including Visual Basic for Applications.

Full-Time. Salary: $148,678 - $165,000 per year.
