TITLE: Customer Engineer

LOCATION: Austin, TX

POSITION SUMMARY & KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Requires the ability to travel and to work on rotating shifts, including overnight installations

  • Requires the ability to run and terminate network cables in ceilings, walls, and conduit

  • Requires the ability to drill and mount in wood, stainless steel, block, and other surfaces

  • Position responsible for installation, maintenance, and replacement of POS and related equipment within the customer’s location to ensure continuity of customer operations and high levels of customer satisfaction

  • Responds to all customer concerns or problems by resolving them or by engaging the proper team

  • Build working relationships with customers and represent NCR in a manner that reflects positively on the image, core values, and reputation of the company

  • Responsible for all NCR assets that will be used in the delivery of customer services (i.e., tools, software, vehicles, documentation, and intellectual property) or as assigned by management

  • Responsible for accurate and detailed reporting of all work performed. Responsible for tracking and reporting all expenses incurred in the delivery of services

  • Requires carrying and lifting tools and parts of varying weights (1- 50 lbs.), including up or down multiple stairs and floors as needed; Requires bending/squatting/crawling and walking/standing for prolonged periods; Requires the use of a ladder to install equipment

Basic qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Three to five years of related experience

  • Advanced computer skills and standard software, including technical knowledge of Windows OS, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting

  • Full competency in the safe operation of power and hand tools as well as drilling all common surfaces and mounting hardware to walls, countertops, and ceilings

  • Outstanding customer-facing skills and communication

  • Extensive experience terminating, testing, and troubleshooting network cables

  • Experience mentoring and coaching other technicians on drilling and cabling

  • Works well with minimal supervision; Good problem-solving skills; Ability to pick up new skills quickly; Ability to work under pressure; Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work

  • Excellent interpersonal skills/customer relationship skills required

  • High level of personal integrity; Support and promote teamwork and cooperative effort

  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, overtime, flex shifts, on-call, and travel

  • Ability to travel by plane or car and stay overnight in hotel rooms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Low Voltage cabling skills and knowledge of industry best practices

  • Basic to advanced Heatmapping skills

  • Experience providing customer training and support solution go-live dates

  • Experience in remotely supporting other technicians during their field deployments
