Job Description Summary:
As an integral part of PayPal’s Mobility Immigration & Operations Team, the Immigration Specialist is responsible for supporting the Americas Immigration Program, to ensure lawful work authorization for our dynamic and diverse workforce. This includes supporting the administration of the company’s immigration program, internal stakeholder consulting and support, visa expiration review and guidance, and service partner management. We are seeking a highly collaborative and proactive immigration subject matter expert to assist with managing this integral function, which is critical to the company’s success. Must be a strong communicator, both verbal and written, with experience relaying complex subject matters in a concise and easily understandable fashion. The Mobility and Immigration Operations Team manages the immigration and relocation program for PayPal worldwide. The team is responsible for setting the policy for physically relocating employees and their household goods, ensuring employees have the legal right to work in the new location, and for providing individual tax services to ensure compliance with local requirements.

You will be responsible for supporting the Americas Immigration Program, to ensure lawful work authorization for our dynamic and diverse workforce. This includes supporting the administration of the company’s immigration program, internal stakeholder consulting and support, visa expiration review and guidance, and service partner management We are seeking a highly collaborative and proactive immigration subject matter expert to assist with managing this integral function, which is critical to the company’s success. Must be a strong communicator, both verbal and written, with experience relaying complex subject matters in a concise and easily understandable fashion.

In your day-to-day role you will execute the following:

  • Support the management of the immigration processes and operations for employer-sponsored visas and permanent residency applications and coordinate resolutions to complex matters in partnership with the Mobility Americas Lead, in-house Immigration and Employment Law colleagues, and external immigration counsel.
  • Responsible for day-to-day communications among candidates, employees, managers, internal stakeholders, external counsel, and/or vendors regarding immigration issues, and counsel employees and managers on immigration policies, and set expectations on best practice, process, and timeline.
  • Oversee immigration processes/operations related to employer-sponsored visas and permanent residence petitions and continuously assessing where improvements/enhancements may be needed.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with key business clients and HR teams to enable Mobility and Immigration related policies, tasks and situations are appropriately addressed.
  • Closely monitor changes in immigration policies/regulations to ensure full compliance with (Americas) immigration laws, assess impact to program, and communicate to stakeholders timely.
  • Conduct benchmarking and provide recommendations on immigration best practices to remain competitive in the marketplace.
  • Coordinate with external counsel for managing case status reporting and review and track vendor invoices and payments related to the global immigration program.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of Immigration Guidelines and Procedures to ensure they align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • From time to time, may be requested to assist with in-bound Americas relocations and assist keeping all interested parties updated.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with US immigration in both NIV (e.g., H-1B, Blanket L-1, F-1 OPT) and IV (e.g., PERM, I-140) related matters either in-house or in a law firm; experience working on a Global Mobility team is a plus.
  • Strong communicator, customer focused, ability to work cross-collaboratively across different HR groups and Legal.
  • Solution and data-oriented approach to problem-solving and proven experience in project management and policy development.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Intercultural sensitivity and adept with handling sensitive and confidential data.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Experience developing stakeholder-facing immigration reports.
