Job Description Summary:
What you need to know about the role: The mobile architect's main responsibility involves creating, building, and validating high-performance mobile SDKs for both iOS and Android platforms. These SDKs empower PayPal and Braintree merchants to access diverse payment options through their mobile applications. Job Description:
Your way to impact:

In collaboration with lead domain architects, your role will involve comprehending merchant integration patterns, designing and developing customer-centric mobile SDKs with a strong focus on technical expertise and security. These SDKs will facilitate various payment options for millions of PayPal merchants within their mobile applications.

Your day to day:

  • Work in close collaboration with a team of architects and engineers to create, test, and deploy exceptionally scalable and versatile products for iOS and Android SDKs. These solutions should seamlessly integrate various payment methods, including PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay, credit cards, and region-specific options across diverse mobile platforms.
  • Engage with product and design teams to gain insights into business requirements, fostering innovation and exploring fresh opportunities. Your input will be valued, as you'll participate in design meetings to propose, discuss, and refine new features and functionalities.
  • Take ownership of communicating technical standards, principles, methodologies, and industry trends to stakeholders.
  • Write code that is deliberately designed for reusability, facilitating collaboration with other teams.
  • Develop and communicate technical processes, standards, and best practices to your colleagues.
  • Contribute to test automation efforts, including Test-Driven Development (TDD), unit, integration, functional, and accessibility testing.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach for less experienced engineers, sharing your expertise and insights to foster professional growth.


What you need to bring:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Over a decade of experience in successfully developing mobile platforms for both iOS and Android.
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating and maintaining mobile SDKs recognized for their scalability, availability, and security.
  • Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as Swift and Kotlin; competence in multiple languages is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in software development tools and a commitment to software engineering best practices.
  • Previous engagement with high-performing engineering teams operating within an Agile SCRUM model.
  • While prior experience with modern API development ecosystems like REST and GraphQL is preferred.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with capabilities offered by Public Cloud platforms in relevant areas.
  • The capability to draw from personal experience and collaborate with top developers to identify and implement preferred developer experiences.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $107300 to $259600
