Job Description Summary:
PayPal’s newly formed Global Markets organization has end-to-end accountability for leading PayPal's local businesses and growth strategies in the markets around the world where the company operates to ensure seamless execution and drive profitable growth. This includes overseeing the global sales and distribution of PayPal's products and services, helping to drive PayPal's position as a leading digital payment partner for businesses and consumers around the world, including in emerging markets such as China. Reporting to PayPal’s EVP & Chief Financial Officer, the VP of Global Markets Finance will oversee the Global Markets Finance team and oversee all financial objectives related to evolving the legacy Global Sales and Merchant Services organization to build on the momentum in PayPal’s markets around the world and accelerate how the company delights its global customers end to end. The executive in this role will partner closely with PayPal’s EVP and President of Global Markets to develop and implement data-driven initiatives aimed at driving growth, improving efficiency, and increasing profitability, while serving as a connective tissue within the business. Additionally, the VP of Global Markets Finance will lead strategic, high-impact projects including PayPal’s monetization strategy for large enterprise merchants, Braintree and Hyperwallet platform goals, competitive intelligence, investment ROI, and other initiatives requested by the C-Suite. The executive in this critical role must possess both a financial and commercial point of view and will need to embrace challenges and structure complex problems to deliver analyses and recommendations directly to the Senior Leadership Team and participate in the narrative and analysis for the Board of Directors and other investors. The VP of Global Markets Finance will directly manage the finance teams that support PayPal’s channel partnerships, enterprise and global accounts, global merchant services, growth markets, and EMEA and APAC markets. Strategic initiatives will include leading volume forecasting, merchant retention and engagement, promotional strategy, and pricing initiatives. This executive leader must possess strong analytical and communication skills to influence data-driven business decisions and optimize investments. The executive in this role will combine a passion and obsession for PayPal’s global merchants with knowledge of the payments business and data to become a trusted business partner throughout the organization, leading critical projects from idea generation through operational execution.

Job Description:
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the global monetization strategy leader for PayPal’s channel partnerships, enterprise and global accounts, merchant services, growth markets, and EMEA and APAC markets.
  • Lead a high performing team responsible for ensuring PayPal’s merchant platforms continue to grow and scale efficiently.
  • Oversee the evaluation of revenue potential from potential future product investments to understand ROI.
  • Own the unit economics for merchant platforms, including Braintree and Hyperwallet, to identify and implement strategies to improve margins.
  • Collaborate with executive-level stakeholders on the marketing, strategy & operations, merchant platforms, and analytics teams to accelerate merchant acquisition and marketing effectiveness.
  • Drive strategic decision making, utilizing data to improve visibility into merchant performance and make recommendations for new business opportunities.
  • Support FP&A in understanding how to forecast merchant platform revenues and margins, and partner with accounting and corporate finance teams to understand and communicate month-end variances to plan for financial close reporting.
  • Lead quarterly and annual planning process for marketing investments and identify and quantify key risks & opportunities in the consumer business.
  • Partner with Braintree and Hyperwallet product owners to oversee key merchant platform metrics by setting goals in planning, tracking outcomes, and providing metric deep dive analysis.
  • Globally oversee the linkages between merchant platform goals (activation, usage / value, attach, merchant sentiment) and financial and GTM goals.
  • Manage bi-annual planning to support decision making around merchant platform priorities and tradeoffs.
  • Own cross-functional initiatives for PayPal’s Global Markets portfolio, including merchant segmentation, international revenue planning, and market research.
  • Oversee consolidation of all financial information, business context, and priorities for the Global Markets portfolio deep-dives as requested by the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of Senior Leadership Team presentations that analyze Global Markets business results, present forecasts, build narratives highlighting business strategy and performance, assess business risk and operating health, and align cross functional teams around effective solutions.
  • Globally oversee special projects to continuously improve, automate, and scale Global Markets forecasting and reporting tools, processes, and methodologies.


Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience leading a global finance function for a large, heavily matrixed, and multi-national organization.
  • Previous experience as a CFO or a divisional CFO.
  • 8+ years of relevant financial experience, having held positions of increasing scope and responsibility at a high-growth payments or fintech company that caters to merchants on a global scale.
  • Deep experience managing financial planning and analysis initiatives.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify win-win solutions in complex situations and ability to keep cool under pressure and find solutions quickly in difficult situations.
  • Excellent reasoning capabilities and ability to make strategic, responsive decisions.
  • Experience building and forming new team structures.
  • Deep expertise with finance, particularly in budgeting, cost management, financial accounting, treasury, risk management and key financial metrics.
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, while recognizing and supporting the organization’s preferences and priorities
  • Demonstrated experience in process creation / improvement for a global finance organization.
  • Ability to travel globally up to 30%.
  • BS or BA degree in business or finance.
