Job Description Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Analyst to join our Transaction Expense FP&A team, which plays a crucial role in the global consolidation and forecasting of Transaction Expenses (TE$), the largest expense item at PayPal. In this role, you will collaborate with various business partners to gather and analyze data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights on transaction expenses for key PayPal products. Your findings will be communicated to senior leadership through detailed reports and presentations, influencing strategic decision-making.

Job Description:
Responsibilities
  • Forecast and manage costs for Braintree, Venmo and Zettle. Understand, forecast, and explain the impact of merchant mix, sector mix, consumer spending patterns, and external drivers on costs.
  • Build and maintain forecasting models to ensure accurate financial updates
  • Act as a business partner and thought leader for Payments, providing deep business and financial insights. Support strategic planning processes, scenario planning, initiative scoping, partnership deals, contract negotiations, and other finance-related activities.
  • Develop business cases for initiatives, including detailed financial modeling. Regularly partner with the Product team to identify opportunities to optimize transaction expenses.
  • Analyze weekly expense trends and their drivers, compare with targets, and present findings to finance leadership.
  • Effectively communicate financial performance to leadership across the finance and payments organization using impactful visualizations and compelling PowerPoint presentations
  • Identify and rectify data issues related to cost data by working closely with the data engineering team to ensure data accuracy and integrity.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Finance, Economics or related quantitative discipline.
  • 4+ years of prior experience in Finance or Analytics field in a high growth, global company preferably in payments, financial services or internet-based sectors
  • Should be comfortable with financial modeling and working with large amounts of data/databases
  • Prior experience with financial planning and reporting systems (e.g. Excel,Hyperion, Essbase, Tableau, PowerBI) is preferred
  • Budget Formulation & Management, Trend & Variance Analysis. Ability to analyze and automate financial reporting.
  • Experience with SQL is good to have but not required
  • Detail oriented and strong analytical skills
  • Experience in building powerful presentations with a crisp and clear storyline
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, cross functional team environment setting
  • Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $52800 to $136510
