Meet Our Team:
Our team is part of the ECS portfolio (Enterprise Compliance Solutions), which supports PayPal’s enterprise priority initiatives. This is a new open job opening for a critical position, to support one of the top growth priorities. We build and maintain a leading state of the art platform that caters to implementing global regulatory policies, Anti Money Laundering & Tax related regulatory requirements that PayPal must comply within most of the 200+ countries that we operate. With the highest priority of building applications that safeguard our payments ecosystem, our platforms scale across millions of interactions, working with petabyte-plus data, integrating with various other APIs in real time and yet providing high availability and configurability to the business.
Your Way to Impact:
This Software engineer will get to work on critical initiatives which give exposure to both Merchant and Consumer Platform Priorities, building Compliance Platform capabilities and understanding various integration patterns at PayPal Inc. They will closely collaborate with various stakeholders like Program Teams, Product Owners, Solution Architects, and other engineers from cross functional teams. This role will provide the best opportunity to propel their career forward.
Our goal is to build next gen RegTech platform that seamlessly works across multiple geographies delivering transaction screening and KYC solutions to both PayPal’s direct customers and our adjacencies.

Actual Compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to work location, and relevant skills and experience.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is $72700 to $176000

Your Day-to-Day
- Participate in the design and development of one or more product features or sub-systems
- Develop code that is sufficiently supported by unit, functional and integration tests
- Develop and maintain technical documentation
- Participate in design discussions and understand solutions to system and product changes within your team
- Collaborate with x-functional teams during feature integration
- Participate in peer code reviews
- Triage and mitigate production issues
- Participate in all scrum team ceremonies
- A successful candidate will have at least 3-5+ years of experience with backend development
- Experience with Java, OO-based design, and development is required
- Experience with algorithm and data structures required
- Experience with REST API’s, Web Services, Unit Testing, functional testing is required
- Design and implementation of microservices experience is preferred
- Architecture principles for SOA, Event Driven and Large-Scale Systems
- Strong skills in Server-Side Java, Spring, SpringBoot, Hibernate, REST, Maven, Github and other open-source Java Libraries preferred
- Experience with Agile development is a plus
- Experience working with Java, Spark, front end technologies are a plus
- Experience with any business rule management system is a plus
- Excellent verbal and writing skills; ability to produce clear, concise communications and documentation.
