At Regions, the Business Unit Data Governance Analyst serves as a key resource and intermediary in ensuring that the availability, usability, security, and integrity of data within a Line of Business is properly managed. This position ensures that data is used appropriately within the Line of Business for specific data management and governance related issues.
Primary Responsibilities
- Measures and monitors data quality, designs, and executes remediation plans, maintains, and supports applicable data management standards
- Leverages tools, and partners with the centralized Data Management and Governance team to ensure best practices in implementing plans
- Reviews data quality issues, performs analysis, recommends fixes, and/or report timely any breaches of thresholds
- Manages and resolves or remediates data issues
- Manages, executes, and tracks data quality remediation plans in coordination with all stakeholders
- Tracks and reports data quality statistics for data quality for stewarded application(s), warehouse or mart (including developing evidence of compliance with Data standards)
- Ensures that models and analytical capabilities effectively address business requirements
- Manages and maintains existing inventory and catalog of data assets available to the line of business
- Promotes the use of automation and emerging technologies in data governance architectures and plans
- Relies on extensive experience in solving issues independently, maintaining all applicable documentation
- Supports applications and platforms to enable effective sharing of data from authoritative data sources
- Translates business rules into data quality rules and produces data controls
- Partners with leaders to determine data needs and ensure compliance
- Provides training and data assistance as needed
- May act as a resource to associates with less experience
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Information Systems, or related field and seven (7) years of Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, or related experience
- OR High School Diploma/GED and eleven (11) years of Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, or related experience
Preferences
- Master’s degree in Business, Science, or related field
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to review and analyze data, and identify and resolve problems
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Ability to work under limited guidance
- Basic project management skills
- Capacity for day-to-day, hands-on execution
- Familiarity with data quality issues and Exact, Transform, Load (ETL) processes
- Knowledge and understanding of the applicable tools and practices used in data governance including query and data profiling techniques
- Proven skills in data analysis – including queries to calculate data quality
- Solid written, verbal, and analytical skills
- Strong research and problem determination and solution skills
- Typically work across many data assets and is an operations or technology person who is responsible for a data asset as it flows through systems
- Understanding of data architecture practices
This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future. Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office expectations.
Compensation Details
Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.
The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.
