What You’ll Do
The role of Chief of Staff will directly influence the future direction of Slalom’s Great Lakes market. This individual will serve as the right hand to our Great Lakes General Manager, engaging in strategic initiatives and ensuring seamless operation of the organization. The Chief of Staff will extend the reach of our GM by owning special projects and acting as their proxy, as needed.
In this role you will have visibility into projects across all the Great Lakes market and play an important role in helping elevate and prioritize those with the most impact. You are a thinker and doer, a leader and relationship builder, a go-getter and an organizer.

- Connector between Capability Teams and GTM Market: A critically important function for the Chief of Staff is to always have an ear for what will help evolve and advance our market. The Chief of Staff plays a unique role to connect the Capability and GTM teams with useful information and data. This can be through the introduction of new offerings, great stories, supply/demand insights on resource availability or generally using feedback to help initiate change. This person will also specifically help to drive the processes associated with R4 (our annual leadership summit) and the Executive Leadership Forum events.
- Strategic Initiatives: The Chief of Staff will look across the market to lead the yearly strategic initiatives and then drive progress against those. This will include ensuring that the right meetings and leadership are aligned to drive those forward, progress tracking and communication will be critical to the success of those initiatives.
- Facilitator and Organizer: Leader in monthly market meetings including evolving and defining the rhythm of business to move the market priorities forward; organization and structure of Great Lakes Leadership Team Meeting, as well as Sales, Marketing and Offering meetings. Involvement in all offsite events from organization to facilitation.
- Functional Oversight: Oversight over operations, staffing, marketing, people, and culture functions that sit in the Central region and ensuring that they are operating within the Great Lakes Rhythm of Business. Act as central point of contact for this team.
- Forecasting & Financial Analysis: Work with Market & Portfolio Excellence leaders to help drive the annual forecasting process and ongoing outlook updates. Conduct analysis of key business levers to help drive profitable growth and manage SG&A funding for internal/marketing expenses.
- Partnering for Continuous Improvement: Serve as a trusted partner to the GM and Great Lakes Leadership Team, maintaining a high level of discretion and exemplifying our core values each day. And support continuous improvement and growth for our market by defining measures of success (e.g., strategic, financial, and operational), ensuring accurate reporting, and identifying areas for growth and efficiency.
- 10+ years of experience in the consulting industry (previous Chief of Staff or Strategy consulting experience preferred)
- Ability to build deep and meaningful relationships across a variety of stakeholders; works well in a cross-functional, matrixed org with a highly collaborative, team-oriented approach to problem solving
- Results-oriented leader with strong business acumen and analytical skills with the ability to connect dots on data, identify trends, and recommend actions
- Stellar problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and structure complex problems into high quality, analytically sound, detail-oriented solutions with little guidance; must be comfortable with a high level of ambiguity
- Strategic and “hands-on” with a willingness to be a “player-coach” and roll up the sleeves to get things done
- Strong executive presence when presenting to and collaborating with senior executives and gain influence at all levels of the organization
- Strong understanding of the business of consulting (staffing processes, bill rates, margin, utilization, etc.)
