Our Migration team combines strategy, frameworks, accelerators, and deep technical expertise to meet clients where they are and guide them forward. We design and deliver migration solutions that build trust in modern systems, strengthen data confidence, and accelerate transformation outcomes.

We are seeking a Migration Strategist to serve as one of our foremost migration experts—helping clients solve their most complex migration challenges while shaping how migration is delivered across the firm. This role combines executive advisory, pursuit leadership, technical architecture, and delivery excellence. You will lead complex migration programs, influence enterprise transformation strategies, mentor consultants and architects, and develop reusable approaches that differentiate our Migration capability in the marketplace.

What You’ll Do

Sales Solutioning

  • Serve as the migration subject matter expert on strategic pursuits, helping shape client vision, solution strategy, implementation approach, and delivery estimates.
  • Lead migration discovery workshops to assess client landscapes, identify risks, define migration strategies, and build executive confidence.
  • Develop migration proposals, solution collateral, accelerators, and points of view that strengthen Slalom's market differentiation.
  • Partner with account leaders and delivery teams to position migration as a strategic investment and critical path to business enablement and transformation success.

Strategic Advisory

  • Advise executive stakeholders on enterprise migration strategies supporting business application implementation, M&A, and AI initiatives.
  • Assess complex legacy environments, data quality, business processes, and organizational readiness to define migration roadmaps.
  • Guide clients in selecting migration approaches, decision frameworks ,regulatory considerations ,and success metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, modernize, and automate migration activities while reducing business risk.

Architecture & Design

  • Lead design of enterprise migration architectures, including:
  • Source-to-target mapping
  • Dependency identification
  • Tool selection
  • Data quality frameworks
  • Validation and reconciliation approaches
  • Cutover strategies
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, data engineering teams, application teams, security, and integration specialists to deliver best-fit migration solutions.
  • Establish migration design standards, reusable patterns, accelerators, and leading practices across engagements.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies—including AI-enabled migration tooling—to improve quality, productivity, and delivery outcomes.

Delivery Leadership

  • Lead complex migration engagements from discovery through design, build, testing, deployment, and stabilization.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple migration workstreams while mentoring delivery teams.
  • Guide project teams in planning, estimation, risk management, issue resolution, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure migration solutions meet client objectives for data integrity, business continuity, security, and performance.
  • Serve as the senior migration advisor for executive steering committees and governance forums.
  • Build trusted relationships with client executives, program leaders, architects, and business stakeholders.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to client executives, IT leaders, and business stakeholders
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear business insights, impacts, and decisions
  • Lead architecture review forums, executive communications, and status reporting with clarity and confidence

Practice & Capability Development

  • Develop reusable migration frameworks, methodologies, templates, accelerators, and delivery assets.
  • Share migration expertise across Enterprise capabilities through training, mentoring, communities of practice, and knowledge sharing.
  • Coach consultants, architects, and technical leaders in migration best practices and delivery excellence.
  • Contribute to thought leadership through white papers, conference presentations, internal learning, and market-facing content.
  • Partner with capability leaders to continuously evolve Slalom's Migration offerings and service portfolio.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience delivering enterprise data or content migration programs, preferably within consulting.
  • Deep expertise designing and leading migration initiatives supporting ERP, CRM, HR, Finance, Supply Chain, and enterprise platform implementations and M&A activities.
  • Demonstrated success leading migration discovery, solution architecture, implementation planning, and delivery for large, complex organizations.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles including ETL/ELT, data modeling, pipeline architecture, cloud data platforms, and integration patterns.
  • Experience designing migration validation strategies, reconciliation frameworks, cutover planning, and data quality processes.
  • Expertise working across AWS, Azure, GCP, and modern enterprise application ecosystems.
  • Experience partnering with executive stakeholders to align migration strategies with business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for business and executive audiences.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, privacy, compliance, and enterprise architecture principles.
  • Experience leveraging AI, automation, and modern tooling to improve migration delivery efficiency.
  • Proven ability to mentor technical teams while fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% based on client and project needs.

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this role, we are hiring at the following levels and targeted base pay salary ranges:

East Bay, San Francisco, Silicon Valley:

  • Principal: $190,000-232,000
  • Senior Principal: $222,000-271,000

San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County, Seattle, Boston, Houston, New Jersey, New York City, Washington DC, Westchester:

  • Principal: $174,000-213,000
  • Senior Principal: $204,000-249,000

All other locations:

  • Principal: $160,000-195,000
  • Senior Principal: $187,000-228,000

In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
