Job Summary
Manages and supports the administration of unique and complex assets within the Trust Co. Works closely with relationship managers, advisors, and internal teams to ensure the effective management and valuation of these assets.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Completes the annual Unique Asset reviews for non-real estate, liabilities, notes and mortgages which represents approximately $43 Million in assets. Conducts a detailed assessment of the assets held within a Trust to determine if these assets remain suitable for the Trust, align with its investment objectives, and are being managed appropriately.
- Maintains, books, and removes Unique, Sundry, Tier 1, and Private Equity assets and generates monthly/yearly reports of each asset class. Ensures coding on Trust accounting system is correct as it relates to fee generation at the account level to help manage the risk of the portfolio. Verifies the asset's management and retention comply with the Trust document, company policy and procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations. Assists Relationship Manager/Specialist with account administration issues.
- Serves as secretary for the Special Asset Review Committee (SARC). Prepares monthly meeting agenda, minutes and all documents required for SARC meetings. Reviews Unique Asset and Real Estate approval packages to be presented to the committee for accuracy and compliance with company policy and procedures. Prepares reports for monthly SARC meetings including Market Value, Exception Summary, Rental Income and Past Due Loan reports. Coordinates guest speakers for Tier 1 asset presentations.
- Serves as administrator of Trust Master Insurance Policy with an asset size of approximately $155 million. Reviews appropriateness of insured amounts, processes payments of annual policy premiums for all Trust owned assets, processing policy changes, renewals, and cancellations as well as maintaining accurate records. Ensures policies adhere to company policy and procedures, relevant trust regulations and industry standards.
- Processes check or wire proceeds from sale and purchase of Trust owned real estate in accordance with policy and procedures.
- Processes and monitors annual property tax payments for Trust owned assets as directed by Real Estate Manager to ensure its timely payment.
- Provides administrative support to Real Estate Managers, Relationship Managers and Specialists with account administration. Preforms updates to cost basis and market values for all Trust owned assets. Adds and removes assets based on direction from Real Estate Manager.
- Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience:
- Five years of experience managing unique assets such as real estate, closely held business interests, and other illiquid assets including ensuring accuracy in documentation, coding, and compliance with policies.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Understanding of various asset types, including real estate, unique assets, closely-held businesses, mineral interests, and other non-traditional investments
- Understanding the principles and practices of managing trust assets, including legal and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with trust regulations and industry standards
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency using word processing and spreadsheet software programs
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Familiarity with Synovus Trust Co policies
- Knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, and investment principles
- Proficiency using relevant software and systems
