Job Summary
Responsible for leading, developing strategy, and executing fee-generating capital markets activities. In coordination with other key business leaders, has oversight for all relationship management, transaction execution, financial modeling, and risk analysis.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Partners with other senior bank leaders to develop and lead the execution of effective strategies to originate and execute on a wide variety of capital markets opportunities. Leads Capital Markets team on financial solutions, transaction execution, and consultative/advisory strategies and is responsible for the achievement of overall sales performance for team.
- Ensures achievement of targeted revenue and margin. Provides syndication origination, syndicate, and distribution support for senior debt financing across Synovus' Lines of Businesses.
- Partners with the Credit Risk Management teams to ensure the appropriate level of risk assessments are being performed on all potential business activities, and that all risks identified are being mitigated in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Employs established methods or techniques in the analysis of financial data. Uses industry knowledge and corporate finance skills to evaluate potential client solutions. Develops, implements, and monitors action plans to ensure the attainment of financial goals.
- Uses objective financial and business analysis to evaluate the returns and risks of business choices. Analyzes and integrates trends and patterns to determine the root causes of problems and identify solutions. Evaluates short and long-term implications of decisions.
- Accurately forecasts growth, costs, and business challenges. Optimizes execution and results. Uses the advantage of company size, internal and external resources, and talent to achieve success. Develops and communicates logical, convincing justifications, including lessons learned, that build commitment and support for perspectives and initiatives.
- Listens to, leverages, and promotes the diverse ideas, perspectives, and contributions of others on the team. Serves as an advocate for proactive planning and continuous improvement; creates an environment where everyone is held accountable for achieving goals and results. Makes sure desired change initiatives and priorities are implemented appropriately. Assesses actual performance results against goals and objectives, adjusting tactical and operational plans accordingly.

- Manages the annual performance management and merit processes for direct and indirect reports. Coaches and develops team members and builds a work environment where team members are engaged and feel a positive sense of achievement about their role in the company. Works closely with Human Resources regarding employee relations, compensation, training, posting and filling vacant positions and other Human Resources related matters.
- Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.

Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum experience:
- 15 years of experience delivering corporate and investment banking products and services to middle market and/or large corporate clients including managing corporate and investment banking relationship management teams, senior client executives, regulators, key stakeholders and internal partners; experience calling on designated industry sector and managing portfolio of complex credit relationships and capital markets/advisory activities; and extensive experience in the areas of loan structuring and approval, credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio management.
Certifications or Licenses:
- Registration for Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam and FINRA Series 79, 63 (or 66) must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
- Advanced knowledge of federal and state banking regulations and securities regulations
- Advanced credit and treasury services product knowledge
- Ability to develop C-suite relationships
- Strong transaction execution skills
- Goal orientated, with positive and energetic approach
- Effective communications and influencing skills
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- MBA or related master's degree, CFA, CPA and/or related educational/professional attainments preferred
- Series 7 & 63 licenses.
- Experience with private equity and sponsor related transactions
