Please review the following job description:

Develops an enterprise-wide approach to managing data including the development of Enterprise Data Strategy, Governance, Foundational Data (e.g. Master Data) and common data architecture. Develops and oversees strategic vision, planning, execution and management of all activities related to establishment and operation of the Enterprise Data Office (EDO). Responsible on behalf of the organization to foster value creation by means of the organization’s data ecosystem in line with policy, regulatory, legal and ethical mandates. Ensures adherence to current regulatory and risk requirements and governance standards, and manages regulatory relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Leads overall data management strategy within the enterprise and ensures a data management strategy is implemented effectively, yields high degree of data quality and ensures client data protection through a robust data governance program and appropriate security controls without constricting flow of business activities.

2. Champions data as a strategic business asset and driver of revenue. Effectively communicates the value of data to Executive Leadership and Senior Leadership Teams, offering data-driven business insights that challenge and improve current products and processes and use data insights to recommend cost reduction or revenue growth opportunities.

3. Develops a framework to certify all risk, financial and other key data through a community of Data Stewards to regulators, executive management and the Board of Directors.

4. Partners with businesses to develop strategy to execute on key business development and business management along with best-in-class economics and customer acquisition insights by leveraging insights and capabilities.

5. Implements a common data model for Truist based upon development of key master data that is shared across the enterprise to include critical key components such as customer, financial, product and other hierarchies and creates a common data architecture aligned toward central business architecture in order to and leads to more efficient development efforts across the organization.

6. Operational responsibility for the integration and staging of data, and the development and maintenance of the data lakes, data warehouse and data marts, for use by analysts throughout the organization.

7. Leads the creation, approval and institutionalization of a methodology and effective tactical response for resolution of regulatory issues related to quality of data utilized for compliance, risk management, financial and regulatory reporting.

8. Creates a culture of transparency by ensuring the purpose of data collection and management and respectful treatment of client and internal data, recognizing the importance of building trust in and outside of the organization.

9. Support research, strategy creation and development of new data products or services to expand markets, monetize data (directly and indirectly) and grow company revenue.

10. Identify new kinds, types and sources of data to enable business innovation throughout the organization. Create and oversee a centralized service for sourcing external data to ensure quality, traceability, timeliness, usability and cost-effectiveness. Define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data.

11. Create a data driven culture steeped in data literacy and anchored in collaboration by managing communities of practice, early analytic development programs (perhaps shared w/or transferred to R&D role) and university data and analytic program interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Fifteen years of senior-level experience in leading teams both directly and influencing in a matrix environment; deep experience in the development of strategy for data and implementation of roadmaps for the enterprise and experience leveraging data science and client analytics to develop new competitive advantages appropriate to financial and business services

2. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related discipline, or equivalent education and related training

3. In-depth understanding of financial services business processes and the role of data in compliance, risk management, finance management, and regulation (e.g. Basel II/III, Dodd-Frank, The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA)) and of internal audit and the regulatory exam process

4. Highly effective consultative leader with an undisputed presence and credibility as a result of demonstrating strong business, IT and data driven acumen, effective decision-making/critical thinking/problem solving skills, which operates with a collaborative and results orientation

5. Experience leading medium to large organizations (500+ FTE, $250MM+ budgets, distributed domestic and global locations)

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Business or related discipline

2. Previous experience as Chief Data Officer (CDO) with a financial institution
