Lead origination and execution of commodity derivative solutions for clients, with primary focus on oil and gas producers and other Energy and Power clients in Investment Banking and Corporate Banking; selectively cover Middle Market energy and opportunistic metals opportunities where strategic. Partner with coverage bankers, traders, credit risk, legal, ops, technology, and other capital markets teammates to deliver best-in-class solutions aligned with Truist’s goals.This role may include direct management responsibility for a small team of originators or support staff. We are seeking a candidate who can elevate and expand Truist’s commodity derivatives platform, shaping scalable capabilities, tools, and content in line with top-tier market practices while driving commercial outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Apply deep commodity market expertise to originate and structure hedging solutions that expand wallet share and deliver sustainable revenue growth. Maintain fluency in market fundamentals.
2. Identify opportunities to enhance our commodity offering and lead initiatives that strengthen processes, analytics, marketing materials, and execution workflows.
3. Build senior-level relationships with coverage bankers and product partners. Lead joint and independent calls. Deliver market commentary and bespoke content to clients and teammates.
4. Structure and negotiate derivative transactions; coordinate pricing and execution with traders.
5. Partner with Risk Management to manage commodity trading guidance lines.
6. Attract, recruit, and retain top talent for the commodity derivatives team. Mentor junior originators and support staff; set objectives, coach performance, and support career development.
7. Oversee onboarding and negotiation of trading documentation between Truist and commodity derivative clients.
Required Qualifications:

1. BA/BS degree
2. Licenses: Series 7, 63, and 24 (if supervisory principle)
3. 15-18 years of related work experience
4. Experience in leading the execution of an extensive variety of client transactions covering the full advisory and capital raising spectrum
5. Advanced knowledge of industry, market, and financial products
6. Proven ability to develop, nurture and monetize "trusted advisor" client relationships with senior executives
7. Advanced analytical and technical skills combined with a problem solving attitude
8. Excellent interpersonal style, good listening skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely
9. Strong partnering and leadership skills in a complex, matrixed environment
Preferred Qualifications:
1. MBA degree, with a Finance focus
2. 18-20 years of related work experience
3. 5-10 years of management experience
4. Experience with derivative products, including but not limited to familiarity with ISDA documentation and derivative accounting
