The Messaging Systems Analyst is responsible for the engineering, operations, and continuous improvement of Truist’s enterprise messaging platforms. This role supports highly available, secure, and compliant email and messaging services used across the enterprise, with a focus on Microsoft Exchange, email security, compliance, and secure message delivery.

This role partners closely with architecture, cybersecurity, risk, and operations teams to ensure messaging services meet business needs, regulatory requirements, and Truist technology standards.

This position is office-centric 5 days a week in our Truist hubs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1. Gather, formulate and define requirements to solve intermediate to complex messaging problems.

2. Engineer, support, and enhance enterprise messaging platforms, including:

  • Exchange Online
  • Exchange SE (Subscription Edition) or 2019
  • Microsoft Outlook (desktop, web, and mobile)

3. Design, implement, and maintain secure email and message hygiene solutions, including:

  • Cisco IronPort
  • Proofpoint
  • Secure Email Relay solutions

4. Administer and support enterprise messaging and compliance platforms, including:

  • Enterprise RightFax or similar e-faxing solution
  • Global Relay (archiving, supervision, retention)

5. Monitor system health, performance, and availability to ensure SLA and uptime commitments are met.

6. Partner with Cybersecurity, Risk, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure messaging platforms meet regulatory, security, and audit requirements.

7. Support incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation for messaging-related issues.

8. Participate in platform upgrades, migrations, and modernization efforts aligned to Truist’s technology roadmap.

9. Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and standard operating procedures.

10. Contribute to automation and operational efficiency initiatives where applicable.

11. Provide Tier 3 support and mentoring to junior engineers as needed.

12. Participate in on-call rotation as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology-related field, or equivalent education and related training

2. Six years of experience or equivalent proficiency in application analysis and design

3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

4. Ability to work independently or as a member of a team

5. Ability to direct and train other team associates

6. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience in a financial services or other highly regulated environment.

2. Experience with Microsoft 365 administration beyond Exchange (e.g., identity, security integrations).

3. Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell preferred).

4. Experience supporting large-scale, highly available messaging environments.

5. Familiarity with audit, risk findings, and remediation processes.

6. Microsoft or messaging-related certifications (preferred but not required).
