Job Description
U.S. Bank Capital Markets Loan Sales & Trading serves as the firm’s execution arm for primary and secondary loan trading and a key partner to Loan Capital Markets, providing liquidity, market intelligence, and distribution across the syndicated loan market.
The Deputy Head of Loan Sales & Trading is a senior leadership role responsible for partnering with the Head of the business to drive strategy, oversee trading and sales activity, manage risk, and deepen client engagement. This position plays a critical role in shaping market approach, improving execution, and delivering revenue growth across the platform.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
Partner with the Head of Loan Sales & Trading to define and execute business strategy, including growth initiatives and market positioning
Provide leadership across trading, sales, and analytics functions; foster a high-performance culture
Risk Management
Oversee trading activity and portfolio positioning across syndicated loan products
Manage risk exposure, liquidity provision, and pricing strategy to optimize profitability
Market Intelligence
Deliver real-time market insights and pricing intelligence to internal stakeholders
Identify relative value opportunities and support secondary market trading
Primary Market & Syndication Support
Collaborate with Loan Syndications on new issue distribution and execution
Provide investor feedback, pricing guidance, and market color on transactions
Active Account Coverage
Lead active coverage of bank and institutional investor accounts, maintaining engagement, sourcing opportunities, and supporting consistent distribution and execution
Governance & Controls
Ensure strong coordination with Risk, Compliance, and Finance teams
Maintain oversight of internal reporting, operational integrity, and regulatory adherence
Qualifications
Experience
Seeking a senior-level (15–20 years) Loan Sales & Trading professional with broad exposure to the pro-rata middle market, non-investment grade, and investment grade corporate markets, as well as meaningful experience covering institutional investors within the project finance sector (including merchant power, LNG, data centers, and renewable energy).
Strong credit training and structuring experience are required; Leveraged Finance experience is a plus
Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of revenue generation
Technical Skills
Deep knowledge of syndicated loan markets and secondary trading dynamics
Strong credit analysis, structuring, and risk management capabilities
Leadership & Commercial Skills
Proven ability to lead teams, influence senior stakeholders, and execute strategic initiatives
Strong client relationship management and business development skills
Excellent communication skills and executive presence

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $194,225.00 - $228,500.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
