The Opportunity:
Join the Risk and Identity (RaIS) team as a Engineering Leader for Risk Platform and Product development group. We're a Value Added Services Technology function dedicated to safeguarding the security and integrity of the payments ecosystem. This role is pivotal in shaping the strategy, design, and deployment of risk programs and adapting them as the payment and threat landscapes evolve. The position requires a collaborative leader, who can work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver these programs and ensure they align with Visa's business strategy and its growth.
Our stack includes the Java Vertx platform, Kafka for messaging, RDBMS, Cache for persistence, fast access, & the Kubernetes platform. The ideal candidate will have prior experience implementing distributed systems based on the Java platform and will be adept at designing resilient software solutions in collaboration with architects. This role requires a leader who is proficient with GenAI, can enhance team productivity, and is adaptable to tactical or strategic approaches. A key part of this role involves mentoring team members to foster career growth.

- Proven ability to define needs, develop plans, coordinate resources and implement action plans.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously & to resolve scheduling & other conflicts in order to meet all deadlines.
- Familiarity with budgeting, scheduling, contract and vendor management
- Experience with a variety of development methodologies and mature understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of each.
- Superior verbal, written & interpersonal communication skills with both technical & non-technical audiences.
- Experience in coaching engineers both on technical and career development
- Excellent team player, with strong collaboration skills and ability to influence cross-functional team for results
- Focus on building an innovative, efficient and collaborative team environment
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 15+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree or with an advanced degree.
- Demonstrable experience as a People Manager in a software engineering environment.
- 5+ years in a leadership and management role, managing Managers.
- Extensive experience with designing and implementing distributed systems using Java Vertx platform, Kafka messaging, RDBMS persistence, and Container platform.
- Prior experience implementing mission critical resilient distributed systems with high availability based on the Java platform.
- Proficiency in designing resilient software solutions in collaboration with architects.
- Familiarity with GenAI and its practical applications.
- Proven ability to enhance team productivity.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
- Passion to understanding people and to always striving to improve our products and services
- Ability to adapt to strategic or tactical approaches as per the situation.
