Job Description
Visa’s Internship Program provides an immersive, 12-week journey where you’ll work on impactful projects that drive Visa’s mission forward. As a Visa intern, you’ll build valuable connections across the organization, sharpen your communication and business acumen, and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, global environment.
Throughout the program, you’ll have exclusive access to interactive workshops and learning sessions designed to deepen your expertise, expand your industry knowledge, and elevate your professional skillset. The IaaS Systems and Storage Engineering (ISSE) team is part of the Operations and Infrastructure organization.

Mission: Build secure, reliable private and hybrid cloud infrastructure using modern, open technologies at optimal cost.
Purpose: Accelerate developer innovation and reduce infrastructure overhead.
You will join a team of systems DevOps engineers and architects who adopt and engineer technologies for Visa’s container platforms, with a focus on Kubernetes, microservices, and cloud infrastructure. Candidates should have experience deploying solutions on AWS, GCP, or Azure, along with strong DevOps, automation, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code skills. The role includes building foundational public cloud services, improving security and cost efficiency, and enhancing developer productivity.
Some examples of previous summer intern job duties and projects:
- Assist with designing and maintaining cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Develop and maintain IaC scripts using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools
- Create reusable IaC templates aligned with security and technology standards
- Support infrastructure deployments and CI/CD pipelines
- Troubleshoot cloud issues and recommend improvements
- Help build automated deployment systems for better speed and reliability
- Ensure compliance with security standards and support remediation
- Use GenAI tools to enhance automation and troubleshooting
- Contribute to GenAI initiatives and project development
- Participate in sprint ceremonies and maintain accurate documentation
- Write runbooks, SOPs, and technical guides
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, graduating December 2026-August 2027.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or coursework with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Basic programming or scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, Go, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or PowerShell
- Familiarity with Linux or Windows environments and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, operating systems, version control (Git), and GitOps concepts
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
- Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or CircleCI
- Awareness of cloud security principles, IAM, VPNs, firewalls, and compliance best practices
- Experience or coursework with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Grafana
- Knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases
- Exposure to generative AI platforms and cloud-native AI tools, or strong interest in AI‑driven automation
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, teamwork, adaptability, and willingness to learn
Additional Information
U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated hourly range for a new hire into this position is $35-$40/hr which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. This is a hybrid position: Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
