Job Description
The Global Business Optimization (GBO) team has a simple mission: we turn massive amounts of data into actionable insights that drive business value. Our analytic consultants and data analysts work with Visa’s clients and staff to improve portfolio performance, program profitability and cardholder experiences. By coupling in-depth analysis of cardholder behavior with Visa’s world-class products, digital offerings and marketing capabilities, we ensure our clients’ programs operate at their peak potential and that cardholders have seamless commerce experiences in both the physical and digital world.
This Director will play a key role on the North America Business Optimization team managing a team of Analysts/Consultants. This role will be focused on supporting Visa’s merchant and acquiring partners and will be accountable for the accurate and timely delivery of the full suite of GBO solutions. In this role, you need to be highly motivated, strategic and analytical and expected to deliver thought leadership, problem diagnostics and high impact solutions to drive payment success. The Director must be able to develop enduring, strategic relationships with clients and across the Visa organization.
Experience utilizing big data is critical to the success of the role as is the ability to deliver effective data visualization and storytelling. Innovation and a willingness to challenge traditional paradigms are also paramount to the success of the role.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as Visa’s expert on authorization and authentication and provide recommendations that influence future products and initiatives.
- Develop presentations of complex data and content for clients in an accurate, understandable and engaging manner.
- Lead and deliver advisory engagements to clients through exceptional problem solving, data analysis, strategic recommendations and executive storytelling.
- Present analytic deliverables to external Visa clients, colleagues in the analytics team, and other internal stakeholders with varying degrees of analytical and technical expertise.
- Build analytical tools that provide a holistic view of client performance, enabling robust and comprehensive dialogues with clients on performance, opportunities, and solutions.
- Collaborate with VCA practice subject matter experts, data scientists, Risk and Disputes teams to develop and refine highly relevant new data solutions.
- Lead and manage multiple individual contributors, setting clear expectations and driving accountability
- Coach employees on performance management, career development, feedback, and engagement.
- Deliver on the NA Global Business Optimization OKRs.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
- 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
- 10 or more years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD.
- Payments industry experience required (i.e. acquiring, issuing, processing, operations, systems, etc.)
- 15-18 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience.
- Experience visualizing data with tools like Tableau or Power BI, advanced Tableau skills.
- Applied experience running senior level client engagements, demonstrating excellence in communication, executive presence, thought leadership, strong client orientation, and general management savvy.
- Substantial problem-solving ability with strategic focus on impacting ROI
- High level of proficiency manipulating data from a variety of source – big data skills (e.g. Hadoop, Hive, Spark) and/or SQL skills required.
- Strong demonstrated experience in strategy, business planning, revenue service planning & generation, and project management.
- Solid experience translating loose (often nebulous) thoughts into tactical plans.
- Proven ability to formulate strategy, drive change and deliver results across functions is critical.
- Consulting skills and client engagement capabilities.
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
- Director-level experience managing people and complex teams.
- Proven ability to lead through change in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong coaching, communication, and influencing skills.

Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is 160,600 to 271,400 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
