Essential Duties

• Provide leadership on a team of engineers including coaching and reviews

• Proactively perform analysis of existing environments to determine ways to improve availability and performance or to drive down costs

• Collaborate with Engineering to drive the CI/CD delivery process and improvements

• Ensure that automation is used in all cases possible

• Drive continuous improvement efforts

• Stay up to date on the latest technologies and best practices and apply these to the builds for all environments

• Support existing environments and provide thorough and timely responses to all incidents

• Document processes and best practices

• Work with architecture to drive and document all environments and changes

• Produce network, infrastructure, security, and flow diagrams

• Introduce and/or build new tools to improve efficiency and reduce potential incidents

• Ensure systems are scanned and vulnerabilities are remediated within required timeframes

• Determine and present designs and approach to delivery teams and leadership

• Actively troubleshoot during build and test to ensure issues are caught as early in the process as possible

• Provide an incident escalation path as needed

• Mentor and train other engineers and team members as needed

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT related field or equivalent work experience

• 8+ years supporting a production system as a Cloud Engineer

• 4+ years in cloud platforms such as Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services

• 2+ years in a senior role including mentoring, coaching, and training

• Experience with Kubernetes services such as Google Kubernetes Engine

• Strong scripting abilities with one or more languages such as PowerShell

• Excellent communication skills, both in the written and the verbal form

• Experience using and introducing Continuous Integration/Deployment tools

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as Terraform and Ansible

• Strong grasp of networking principles and their implementation

• Strong experience using and configuring Linux and Windows operating systems

• Experience working with databases such as Oracle, CloudSQL, MSSQL, or CockroachDB

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in software development

• Experience in on-prem infrastructure builds

• Experience with .Net languages

• Experience with telemetry tools such as Prometheus

• Experience with APM tools such as Datadog
